Hands-On, Not High-Tech
In a world increasingly filled with screens and digital shortcuts, we go the other way. We believe there is a unique kind of magic in using real tools, tactile materials, and physical experiments to understand how the world works. Whether it’s mixing a chemical reaction or figuring out how to balance a bridge made of recycled materials, our sessions are about the joy of doing.
A "Yes-Centered" Environment
We move away from rigid instructions and "right or wrong" answers. Instead, we create an environment where children can lead their own discoveries. We provide the high-quality materials, the themed setups, and the scientific spark; the children provide the imagination and the "What if...?"
The Smart Start Journey
From our Mini Professors sessions that introduce 3-year-olds to the wonders of the world, to the complex building projects in our Tinkering Club for older children, we support every stage of a child’s creative development.

Mini Professors Science Classes (Ages 4–8)
We have two Saturday sessions remaining in our current block: 28 March and 18 April.

Mini Professors Science Classes for Preschoolers (Ages 3–4)
New for May! Our weekday morning "Introduction to the World" sessions begin on 26 May. You can book a full term or a single "taster" lesson.
Tinkering Club (Ages 5–10)
Our next hands-on building workshop is on Saturday 18 April. Space is limited for our makers and builders—secure your spot today.
The Final Messy Mates (Ages 1.5–6)
Only two sessions remaining (31 March and 14 April) before our weekly sensory schedule goes on hiatus.
Holiday Camps (Ages 4–8)
Full-day immersive science and building projects. Booking is now open for both our May Half-Term and Summer Holiday camps.

Meet Lena
Hi! I’m Lena, the founder of Smart Start Kids. As a qualified teacher and a mom to a curious 6-year-old, I created this studio to be the space I wanted for my own son: a place to think, make, and experiment without fear of failure.
With a background in education and years of professional experience, I’m passionate about bringing high-quality, bilingual STEM activities to our international community here in The Hague.
